Field Day 2012

Upcoming Events

  • Athletics Field Day is taking place on (Bank Holiday) Monday 7th May in SMB GAA Field. Registration at 12:30 with events commencing 1pm. Eur 3 entry fee per child, except where family membership already paid.Winners (top 2) qualify for County Finals in Lees Road on Sun 24th June.
  • A Raffle/Draw is now underway to raise funds. Draw will take place at the Athletics Field Day in May. Prizes include some fine Galway Crystal goblets and bowl along with lots of other goodies, so your support is appreciated! Anyone who wants to donate a prize for this raffle, please contact any member of the committee.

  • Well done to all the teams who competed in recent Mini Rugby, Tag Rugby and GAA Football events.
  • There was a great turnout for the Local Talent Show on Tues 6th Mar in GAA Hall. Thanks to judges Stephanie Griffin & Ethel Tuohy. See Full Results.
  • The County Draughts Competition took place in Tulla on 25th Feb. Sixmilebridge were represented by 2 U10 teams (Bronze & Certs), and U12 team (Silver) and an U14 team (Bronze). Well done to all who took part and many thanks to parents who helped with training, supervision and transport.
  • Project Competition took place in Sixmilebridge School on Wed 15th Feb. Winners progress to County Competition in Sixmilebridge on Wed 29th Feb.

  • Great result for Sixmilebridge-Kilmurry at the County Art & Model Making Competition in Ennis on Sat 11th Feb: In the art, 1st for Paul Hamilton, 2nd for Michael Fitzgerald and Meabh Bannon, 3rd for Niall Donlon and 4th for Sam Hamilton. In the model making, 1st for Alex Ellison, David Hamilton & Brian Molloy with a 4th for Ruth O'Neill. Well done to all who took part.
  • The area was represented in recent County Basketball competition where the boys from the Bridge secured 4th place certs.
  • Well done to the two Chess Teams from SMB School who participated in the recent County Chess Competition in Ennis and many thanks to Ms Edel McMahon who organised the SMB Teams.

  • The U15 Girls Indoor Soccer team secured 2nd place and silver medals in the County competition in Cororin on 21st Jan. They were narrowly beaten by Ennis in the final.
  • Well done to the U13 Boys and Girls and the U15 Boys who took part in the County Indoor Soccer Competition. The Girls were narrowly beaten in the final by Ennis.
Community Games 2012

National Area Awards 2011

Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry were well represented at the National Area Awards Ceremony in Ballinasloe on Sat 19th November. Thanks to all the hard work from all those involved in Community Games in the area (co-ordinators, trainers and especially all the children who participated), Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry won back the Munster Most Involved Area Trophy, last won by the area in 2008. Rose Meakins and Sean Stack, also from Sixmilebridge area, were presented with the Clare Adult & Youth Volunteer awards. Kevin O'Loughlin was MC for part of the evening.

Keep Clare Clean Competition

Well done to all those who took part in the Keep Clare Clean Competition, sponsored by Shannon Development and Clare County Council. Top two entries from each category will be submitted to County Finals on 2nd Dec in Ennis.

Clare Community Games All-Stars

Well done to the Clare Community Games All Stars from Sixmilebridge-Kilmurry: Paul Hamilton (Model Making), Rachel Kelly (Futsal), Sam Hamilton & Aoife Hurley (Project), Gavin Fawl & Jason Loughnane (Rounders), Michael Fitzgerald (Talent), James Connor & Claire Corbett (Variety). Please see Clare Community Games website for details of photos (Fri 23rd Sept) and All Stars Dance (Fri 21 Oct). The Variety team will be providing entertainment at the All Stars Dance.

Sixmilebridge-Kilmurry Area were also presented with the County Police Association Cup for the Most Involved Area for 2011, so well done to all those involved in Community Games in SIxmilebridge-Kilmurry Parish.
